Reliability Rally FAQ

Do I have to ride a $1000 bike at the RR?

Yes.

What is a $1000 bike?

$1000 refers to the purchase price of the machine only.  Taxes, registration, and title fees do not count toward this value.  Safety repairs and modifications are unlimited.

The minimum engine size is 175cc. Your machine must be safe, street legal, and insured.

What is the ride like?

The guided ride typically covers 400 miles over 2 riding days.  Plan to arrive Friday evening, ride Saturday, ride Sunday and depart Monday morning.

A slew of contests are provided (lowest purchase price, acceleration test, etc.) to determine who has brought the finest jalopy motorcycle.

We seek out challenging winding roads, scenic vistas, and classic biker hangouts.  The RR team is committed to delivering the best ride routes you have ever seen. We will travel in packs of 5-6, each led by an experienced ride leader.

A printed ride plan and itinerary will be provided to all riders. Additionally, we share GPX files for navigation.

Typical Weekend

What happens if I break down?

Things happen out on the road.  We will work to get you and your bike back to home base, however, this is not guaranteed and should not be relied upon. It is highly recommended that you test ride your bike hundreds of miles before arrival at the RR.  Shake those gremlins out ahead of time!

What does the winner get?

The winner gets bragging rights and a trophy!

How much does this cost?

Registration is $50, which secures your spot on the ride.

Ride cost is typically in the $300-$350 range, which includes:

  • 3 nights accommodation (based on shared occupancy, 1 person per available bed, multiple beds per room)
  • The guided ride events, contests, and door prizes
  • Event tee shirt
  • Dinner: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Breakfast: Saturday, Sunday
  • Charity donation

We work hard to keep the RR as affordable and accessible as possible.  That means basic accommodations, lively cookouts, and frosty cheap beer. Camaraderie is at the heart of the RR ethos and there's no better way to get to know your fellow Reliable Riders.

See our 2023 Rules and Terms for the details.

What is the lodging like?

The Reliability Rally strives to find clean, safe, and inexpensive lodging at amazing locations. Group camaraderie is a priority, so we look for places that keep us all close together.

In an effort to keep things affordable, we provide group sleeping accommodations. Everyone will have their own bed; however, rooms, cabins, etc. will be shared with other motorcycle enthusiasts.

Let us know if you are joining with a friend, and we will do our best to pair you in the same lodging space!
